Our RV campground is located near a wide range of beautiful public land. As we gear up for summer vacation season, you can expect a variety of educational and entertaining programming to choose from. Here are 10 Texas state park events in June that we’re especially excited about! They’re perfect day trip ideas while you’re staying at Pecan Park Riverside RV Park, which is centrally located in San Marcos, Texas.
1/ Lockhart State Park at Chisholm Trail Roundup

While the annual Chisholm Trail Roundup doesn’t take place at the state park, Lockhart State Park will have a booth with activities like ancient spear throwing and fishing rod casting. The Chisholm Trail Roundup as a whole is a don’t-miss event, so you’ll find lots to do.

Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site will be teaching archery basics on four different dates in June. Equipment is provided, but participants must be at least seven years old. While you’re there, take a tour of the Texas White House on President Johnson’s ranch.
3/ Life in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Buescher State Park

The Civilian Conservation Corps was responsible for building many of the public park roads, buildings, and campgrounds across our country during the Great Depression. This hour-long tour “digs” into the legacy these hard-working men left at Buescher State Park.
4/ Finding Feathered Friends – Beginner Bird Hike at McKinney Falls State Park

On this bird hike at Austin’s state park, you’ll learn how to identify feathered friends by sight and sound. Bring binoculars, drinking water, and closed-toed shoes. You may hike across the falls, so wear shoes that can get wet. We recommend you arrive early with a picnic dinner. You can even take a dip in the falls to cool down!
