Camping meals don’t have to be complicated or extremely involved to be good. There are plenty of ways to shorten your preparation time and reduce the cleanup. This frees you up for lots more playtime which everyone looks forward to. Breakfast is pretty easy to make ahead and bring with you when you go camping. You can make a variety of good meals with a combination of just a few ingredients.
You can begin with gathering eggs, bacon, sausage patties, shredded cheese, premade biscuits, and tortillas. If you like your food a little spicy, have some green Chile, and hot sauce on hand. Cook up the bacon and crumble it into pieces. Cook the sausage and set it aside. Next, you make a big batch of scrambled eggs. Bake the biscuits and let them cool.
Now you can assemble a batch of breakfast tortillas and sandwiches. For the tortillas, you can fill them with scrambled eggs, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheese. Add green Chile and hot sauce if you prefer. For the sandwiches, you cut the biscuits in half in place of sausage patty on one side, top it with scrambled eggs and shredded cheese. Then add the top biscuit half.
Once these breakfast items are complete you can pack them in resealable bags and put them in the freezer. When it’s time to pack for camping you can take them out in place them in your cooler. Not only will they help to keep your food cold longer in the cooler, but they will slowly thaw to be ready when you want to serve them.
Kids and adults alike love these quick breakfast meals. They will save time and cleanup because you simply need to take them out and toss them on the grill for a few minutes to warm them. You’ll save on cleanup, too, which is always a good thing.
